ANNOUNCEMENT

It is my pleasure to make the first series of releases available from my recent enterprises. Between late August and the middle of October I performed in Finland, Sweden, the Russian Federation and the states of Maine, Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey. These travels presented plenty of opportunities to do fine quality live recording and undertake new studio projects.

NEW RELEASES!!!

The celebration of Doc Chad's Psychedelic Studios continues
with releases of both all new and newly reworked archive material,
never before released.

EXCITING NEW RELEASE! SPECIAL PRICE FOR DOUBLE CD

The amazing sounds of the 2017 IWW Band are now here for the enjoyment of one and all, thanks to
the folks who managed to limp down to Neptune’s for the January Monday night series, this gathering
of performers including all three of my daughters and some of my longest-running cohorts pulled off
a repertoire of pieces that should both satisfy and surprise my followers.
I defy anyone to come up with a band with a set list such as this!

These are exciting live recordings originating with a ZOOM but treated to extensive editing,
EQ and mastering until we have a sound that is really fun to listen to.
The double CD is available for the single price, $10 plus postage

I am excited about these two new cds:

In October I rehearsed a quintet for a live recording session in Boston. This material came out very well and I am happy to present LETS GET WEIRD BUT COMFORTABLE, a superbly recorded and mixed collection of material featuring myself with Jeb Bishop, trombone/Jorrit Dykstra, saxophone/Nate McBride, bass and Curt Newton, bass. An audience member described the band as "weird but comfortable" and this became the name of the combo, others that have heard this phrase are developing it into a life philosophy. The set includes music by Theloniius Monk, Misha Mengelberg, Steve Lacy, Duke Ellington, Doc Chad, Willie Nelson and The James Gang.

More of the Monk material with this band spills over into the second dIsc, MONKS DREAM WITH WORDS. This disc featuring three different band combinations collects all my material up til now with sets of lyrics for Thelonious Monk tunes. In addition to Weird But Comfortable, there is a track with the Arbe Garbe Band (Berlosoconi's take on Ruby My Dear) and the results of three different recording sessions at the Degenfeld "German Hippie Farmhouse" studio with Ekehard Rossli, saxophone and Schroeder, drums, both stalwart members of the ongoing Doc Chad Contemporary Rock Band project. The "super!" Degenfeld collection of vintage instruments is utilized to give this collection a rich guitar sound. If you are familiar with my discography you know I love Monk and creating sets of lyrics is one of my favorite pastimes for his music, meanwhile we all keep practicing trying to play these songs as well as possible.

BOTH CDS FOR $20 PLUS POSTAGE AND YOU GET A FREE BOXHOLDER CD AS WELL, YOUR CHOICE

Here are the my other releases to close out 2016--

Happy with the results of our recording session, a trio consisting of me, Schroeder and Ekkehard
convened at our friend Paul's record store in Stuttgart to record

RECORD STORE DAY
a live in store set that is quite typical of the sets played on the tour:

BACK TO STAY/BAREFEET AND HOT PAVEMENT/ROCKIN' IN THE FREE WORLD/
LICK MY DECALS OFF BABY/MOLE IN THE GROUND/NUTTY/SUNDAY MORNING COMING DOWN/DRIVE ON/EVERYDAYS/DIRTY DEEDS DONE DIRT CHEAP/MISTY ROSES/MONKS DREAM

This freshly minted CD was made available almost immediately.
It was sold as the tour wound through Holland, Germany, Austria, Turkey and back to Bulgaria.

In Sofia our intrepid host Svetan came forward with the master recording of
my first Bulgarian solo event, recorded March 2010--

"There Are No Bridges In Folk Songs Because The Peasants Died Building Them"

OLD PIANO/DOWN THE DRAIN/MOLE IN THE GROUND/BREAKIN' THE LAW EVERY DAY/GOIN' ACROSS THE SEA/BIRTHDAY SONG/PILE UP ALL ARCHITECTURE/SONG OF QUESTIONS/SONG OF MIRRORS/A BOTTLE LABELED LOSERS/LAND OF USE TO BE/SHAPES OF THINGS/HAPPY NEW YEAR/
PEOPLE WILL VOTE FOR WHOEVER GIVES THEM FOOD

I began producing copies of this CD while waiting to meet my wife in Rome. I used the business center of a Hilton near my own hotel to print train tickets and cover art and also downloaded an illustrated quote of mine that I thought I was appropriate, "There are no bridges in folk songs because the peasants died building them," all the time remembering what Svetan had said looking out toward the mountains as we took the train back to Sofia from Plovdiv: "In the mountains there are people living a very old way of life, traditional....they are like peasants....living in the old way....they sometimes see the devil."

In our last week of driving Schroeder and I worked on what would become the

MONKEY BAR
by the Doc Chad Contemporary Rock Band
The CD is named after a venue in Basel where we played an enjoyable trio show. It was a long show with a long encore so after careful deliberation we honed the CD contents down as follows: 8 MILES HIGH/ROCKIN' IN THE FREE WORLD/AUTUMN LULLABY/SUPPLIES DWINDLE/AFTER THE RAIN/DANGER!/HAPPY NEW YEAR/GRAVEYARD/IF YOU'VE GOT THE MONEY/SUNDAY MORNIN' COMIN' DOWN/COUNTING THE DAYS/THE CREATOR HAS A MASTER PLAN/DIRTY DEEDS DONE DIRTY CHEAP/OKIE FROM MUSKOGEE/DRIVE ON/RUNNIN' KIND/NO REASON TO QUIT

MONKEY BAR is the latest addition to the series documenting the activities of this group and performances of this repertoire. Most of the sales and distribution of these CDs is at shows by the group but some of the discs have shown up at my KKK-mart during other shows.

Working back from MONKEY BAR and RECORD STORE DAY, also available have been these collections:

THE MAN WHO TURNED TO CHAD
presents the contents of the in house recording session at Schroeder's studio with Jan engineering.
I USED TO BE SOMEBODY/DANDELION/SUPPLIES DWINDLE/SONG FOR WES/PEACEFUL MOMENT/MISPLACED/SCHROEDER BIRTHDAY SONG/PRISONER/SONG FOR ROBERT HARRIS/SONG OF LONGING/WALK THIS WAY

In the fall 2015 tour we also recorded two quite different shows, an acoustic set at a cozy Freiburgian haunt and a wild "cowboy" concert in the dim light of a basement Luzern squatted co-op building. I took the material from the studio session and combined it with the best parts of these concerts for three excellent CD sets:

OLD DOG
by DOC CHAD CONTEMPORARY ROCK BAND features I USED TO BE SOMEBODY/PEACEFUL MOMENT/MISPLACED/FALLING OFF THE LONG//SATELLITES ARE SPINNING/SCHROEDER BIRTHDAY SONG/MISTY ROSES/MOOSE THE MOOCHE/CHERISH/OLD DOG/PRISONER

Examples of music by the American branch of the Doc Chad contemprorary rock band are not so prevalent, for one thing we have basically no gigs so recording gigs has been more difficult. Hopefully we can get a studio project with some of the fine North Carolina players associated with this ensemble.

LOVE NEVER SAY UGLY

After years in preparation, the Good Doctor has released his most intimate venture
into the realm of Fine Literature:
DREAMORY.

Dreamory is a soft cover perfect bound book with more than 1000 pages.
It weighs in at a bit over 3 pounds, so earns the all important status of "thick"
as established by legendary guru Pinky Das Gupta.

It is a collection of my tour and dream diaries, teenage and draft dodging memoirs and much more. It is my life, up til now, and I am very proud of it. List price is $36 + shipping.

THIS TESTIMONIAL JUST IN FROM VERY SATISFIED BRITISH CUSTOMER:

"Dreamory arrived today very pleased and very good value for
money, many many hours of entertainment will be had from reading this.
very good price for such a large work . . . "

Now  available for the hordes of eagerly waiting Chadsters!

MONEY SAVING TIP:   Customers abroad who are frightened at the postage cost
should bear in mind that if they can put together a group order of two, three or four books,
the postal flat rate for up to 20 pounds results in a savings on the postage over the price of an
individual book order.  Inquire for more information, eugene@eugenechadbourne.com

'BRING THEE A BOOK OR THREE'
Customers abroad who notice a Doc Chad tour coming in their direction are advised it makes good sense to
put it an advance order to have the book brought to you, I am using two methods of getting
books across the ocean for tour sales but because of the weight of these bastards in neither
case does that mean a huge stock at each show, so far other than the London show there have been no
'open sales' on the books, just copies delivered to customers (or venue staff) that have put in an advance order.
